“At the moment that we persuade a child, any child, to cross that threshold, that magic threshold into a library, we change their lives forever, for the better.”
— President (then Senator) Barack Obama
Our school library plays an integral part in the lives of the Kenridge Primary School learners. It is a place where life-long reading habits are shaped and nurtured. Place a book in the hand of a child and he/she will have made a friend for life – a friend who will accompany them on many journeys of discovery and excitement.
All Grade One – Grade Six learners attend the library for a planned lesson and borrowing session during their lesson cycle. During this time they participate in many interesting and enjoyable activities. The library is open before school, during breaks and after school for learners to borrow and return their library books.
Library monitors are students who enjoy helping others, are responsible and can complete tasks independently. They work as a team and have a love of all things that make the library such a special place.
“In the nonstop tsunami of global information, librarians provide us with floaties and teach us to swim.”
— Linton Weeks
