Robotics is a branch of engineering that deals with designing, building and operating robots. Robotics clubs challenge young minds to find innovative solutions to technology challenges while learning, playing, building confidence and making new friends.
Clubs at Kenridge Primary School
Younger participants can sign up for WeDo Junior (Grades 1 and 2) or WeDo Senior (Grades 3 and 4) clubs until they are ready to learn how to build and program Lego Mindstorm robots (Grades 5 to 7). Once participants are in the Mindstorm Clubs, they can enter to compete in regional robotics competitions.
Learners can sign up for either of the time slots. All equipment is provided by ORT Education.
Robotics clubs take place on Tuesdays or Thursdays at the following times:
Grade 1 and 2 – 13:15 to 14:15
Grade 3 and 4 – 14:30 to 15:30
The Lego WeDo construction kit is a simple robotics tool designed for ages 7–11. It allows users to design their own interactive machines and program them using drag-and-drop software.
Lego Mindstorms is a hardware-software platform for the development of programmable robots. It includes an intelligent brick computer that controls the system, a set of modular sensors and motors, and Lego parts from the Technic line to create the mechanical systems.
